Dear Son,
Today you are young,
and growing.
In you, I see myself,
naughty, devious and trying to please.
Your restlessness is known to me,
Your calmness soothes me,
Your hair reminds me of my familiarity with you.
We look similar, you now and me then.
I hope you grow into someone
so that when you look back,
you don't see me,
but yourself - just as you are.
Tall, standing with all your might,
offering shade to the many who come.
But be aware of the thin line
which you tread.
