A response

Dear Professor Paul,

Hope you are doing good. It was great talking to you last week.

I read both the papers which you had mentioned.

They resonate with what I feel and believe. Only we can lead us and we decide whether to lead or to be led. "Choice" is so powerful. Technology maybe, aids us to do the things which we do, in a better and efficient way. However, the motivation for its use comes from us and we are so clearly guided by our emotions. That is so clear and very well expressed in the article "Metadesign". Some time back, I was talking to a friend of mine who asked me "What guides your actions, Love or Fear ?". It was interesting since the very emotion which is capable of guiding us, can lead or bring chaos to the world. I think it is very essential to develop this thought process as well as develop positive feelings about oneself and the surroundings. Education plays a key role in this. The environment plays an important role as well.

As I look around, I see the fragility of everyday life. That brings in a lot of fear inside me. At the same time, on looking at things with a different perspective, I also see the possibilities of a better, progressive and empowered society. I think the responsibility lies with us, as we shape the lives of people around us and the coming generations. Is it possible that every thing we make and design has positive ideals embedded in it? I think, "yes". But then, the context is also very important. How can we travel along with the observer and converse? Would that be possible?

Looking forward to talking to and meeting you soon.

Thanks again.
